First developed in the 1980's, Ko Olina is a mix of residential and resort properties, similar to Ka'anapali on Maui. The water features at Ko Olina are outstanding. There are four protected lagoons with sandy beaches, ideal for taking a swim and relaxing in the sun. A marina is nearby with slips available for residents and visitors to moor their boats.
Other features are are a championship golf course and club house, with townhomes situated around the course. A beachfront condo - Ko Olina Beach Villas was completed in 2008. It's one of the newest beachfront condos on Oahu and there are no others scheduled for development anywhere on the island at this time.
It's worth the drive to checkout Ko Olina. The open space, uncrowded beaches and nicely landscaped grounds are relaxing. Ko Olina has also helped decentralize employment on Oahu, offering residents in Kapolei, Ewa Beach and Waianae opportunities for work without long commutes to downtown Honolulu.
From Honolulu, take the H-1 freeway past Kapolei. Look for the Ko Olina exit and it will take you onto a bridge over the highway, towards the ocean. Ko Olina is a short drive down the road.
