These neighborhood homes are primarily located on Makaa Street, along with a few homes on Kanoenoe Street. Most of Kelaula Kai's homes were built in the mid to late 1980's. The average home has three bedrooms, two and a half baths and about 1,500 square feet of interior living area. Lot sizes are usually 7,500 to 8,000 square feet.
Kelaula Kai is adjacent and mauka to the Anchorage neighborhood.
From Honolulu, take the H-1 freeway eastbound and continue as it merges onto Kalanianaole Highway (72). Turn left Keahole Street and it will eventually merge with Hawaii Kai Drive. Continue on Hawaii Kai Drive past the post office and after passing Makaa Street on the right, make the NEXT right turn at Makaa Street (the first right turn into Makaa Street takes you to Anchorage). If you miss this turn, that's okay, keep going and another right turn onto Makaa Street will emerge.
From Kailua and Waimanalo, drive east on Kalanianaole Highway, past Hanauma Bay. Turn right at Keahole Street and then follow the directions above.
