In 1997 there was a big change for Kaneohe residents - H-3 freeway opened! It's the least crowded freeway on Oahu.  From Halawa, take H-3 to the windward side and it will exit in Kaneohe.  The Likelike Highway (63) starts in Kalihi and also ends in Kaneohe.

If you're in downtown Honolulu, take the Pali Highway (61) to Kailua.  After driving through the tunnels turn left at the first stoplight, Kamehameha Highway (83) and travel west approximately two miles to reach Kaneohe.

This side of the island that gets the most rain.  It's a tropical environment, full of greenery and the blue Pacific Ocean.  Beautiful scenery abounds, from the Koolau mountain range to Kaneohe Bay.

Mokapu Peninsula sits between Kaneohe and Kailua and is home to the Marine Corps Base Hawaii.  Kaneohe is a favored area for military and many civilians  because of the proximity of this neighborhood to Marine Corps Base Hawaii.

Kane'ohe is home to a type of sweet potato.  The name of that potato is the same as its home: Kaneohe.

Other neighborhoods on the windward side include Kailua, Maunawili and Lanikai.
